Musiconis

- par frappement, direct ou indirect - ce qui correspond à la majorité de ce que l’on appelle les "tambours" (bedon, nacaires, tabor, timbales, tabourin) ;

The membranophone family includes instruments that have one or two membranes that vibrate. Some membranophones are struck, either directly or indirectly, as in the case of the majority of "tabor" instruments (e.g. bedon, makers, timpani, tambourine). Other membranophones are played by rubbing, their sound the result of friction, whence comes the term friction drum.
